Youth Chorale Director - lacey lynch

Lacey Lynch has been the Artistic Director of the Rockbridge Youth Chorale since 2009. Lacey currently conducts the Youth Choir for grades 6-12. Over the years, she has worked to create a high quality, engaging community youth choral program for young people throughout the Rockbridge area.

Lacey has over 25 years of choral, instrumental and general music teaching experience, grades pre-K to collegiate and community arts. She is currently teaching music at Natural Bridge Elementary School in the Rockbridge County Schools, and at Washington and Lee University as an Instructor of Music directing the treble choir Cantatrici. At WLU, Lacey also works with students in the WLU Choral Conducting Mentorship Program (CCMP). She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Concordia College, where she studied conducting with Dr. René Clausen, and completed her Masters of Music Education degree from James Madison University (JMU). Lacey has completed her level I training in Kodály at JMU. She completed level I in Orff-Schulwerk at Appalachia State University under the tutelage of Dr. Maribeth Yoder-White and the late Dr. Lisa Runner, and level II at the University of Missouri-St. Louis with the amazing David Row. Lacey recently was the guest conductor for the 2025 District V Middle School Honor Choir. In addition to her teaching, Lacey works closely with the Rockbridge Area Teachers Consortium (RTEC) hosting practicum students and student teachers from both WLU and Southern Virginia University (SVU) in her classroom and in the RYC. She is passionate about mentoring future music educators and choral conductors, and believes in the importance of a quality music education from the earliest ages to adults.

Outside of teaching and music, Lacey loves walking her dog, spending time with family, traveling, riding rollercoasters, paddleboarding, kayaking and being outside. Her family can verify Lacey’s love of “fresh air”!

“Tuesday evenings remain my favorite night of the week because I have the privilege of working with the amazing young singers of the Rockbridge Youth Chorale. Singing is an expression of oneself. A way to share your story and the stories of others in a unique way. Watching young people find their voice, both individually and collectively and both literally and figuratively, is incredibly rewarding. There’s no better way to end the day than with the beautiful sound of young people singing as one!”
